Registration for the Monarch Book Club (grades K-3) and the Rebecca Caudill Book Club (grades 4 - 6) ends on Sunday, December 4, 2011. Stop by the Children's Services reference desk to sign up and get your reading log!

Movies for Kids - Title Change

Due to a change of the DVD release date, we will be unable to show Kung Fu Panda 2 at our November 26 "Movies for Kids." Instead, we will be showing Cars 2.

Wacky Wednesdays

Visit the Children's department every Wednesday in September and see if you can spot something "out of whack." If you can find the crazy change, you'll earn a crazy prize!

Library Card Sign-up Month

Bring your library card along each time you visit the library during the month of September. Kids who show the Children's librarian their Wauconda Area Library card will receive a drawing slip for a chance to win passes to Monkey Joes, Jump Zone or eSkape Entertainment Center. And Kids, you will get to spin the prize wheel at the Circulation desk if you check out 10 items (at least 5 books) when you visit the library.

Kindergarten Readiness

Help your four-year-old get ready for kindergarten! Stop by the Children's Services  desk to pick up a 2011-2012 calendar full of activities designed to develop the skills your child will need to start school. If you bring your four-year-old with you when you pick up your calendar, your child will receive a special surprise and your name will be entered into a drawing for a Leap Frog Word Whammer! Calendars - available in both English and Spanish, and related workbooks (English only) are generously provided by United Way of Lake County

Fall Registration Dates

Registration begins Saturday, September 3, 2011 for Wauconda Area Library cardholders. Out-of-district residents may register beginning Satuday, September 10, 2011.

Summer Reading Club Prizes

The last day to claim your Summer Reading Club prizes is Monday, August 1st.

Summer Program Registration

Registration for summer programs begins on Saturday, May 28 for Wauconda Area Library district residents. Non-residents may register beginning Saturday, June 4.

The Votes Are In!

Over 36,600 Illinois readers in grades 4-8 recently cast their votes for their pick to win the 2011 Rebecca Caudill Young Readers' Book Award. The winner - by a landslide - is The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. Click here for the complete vote tally.

Nearly 141,000 Illinois readers in kindergarten - 3rd grade also picked their favorite book, voting for the 2011 Monarch Readers' Choice Book Award. Rhyming Dust Bunnies, by Jan Thomas, was the clear favorite, winning by over 6700 votes. Click here for the complete vote tally.
